"Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? "Matthew 16: 24-26
Are you tired of the life you have been living? Have you been feeling this nudge in your heart that it's time to change how you do things, your perception, your way of life?
If your answer is yes to these questions, then I want to encourage you in this post to do so right away. Beloved, it is God communicating with you through that persistent urge or feeling you've been experiencing, inviting you to embrace a new way of life in Christ Jesus.
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and it is only through Him that you can reach God the Father, as stated in John 14:6. However, it is important to understand that anyone who desires to follow Jesus must be prepared to deny themselves and take up their cross to follow Him, according to Jesus's words in Matthew 16:24. What does this imply? It means you must be ready to abandon your old habits, previous mindset, lifestyle, and fully surrender to Him.
When you surrender your life to the Lord Jesus Christ, you are leaving behind a worldly lifestyle, past associations, and friendships that are harmful to your new life in Christ. While you can still share the gospel with these individuals, it's essential to be spiritually grounded, firmly rooted in Christ, and filled with the Spirit of God to avoid slipping back into old habits.
Anyone who decides to follow Jesus Christ (being born again) must be prepared to give up their former life for the sake of the gospel and for the Lord Jesus Christ, as stated in Matthew 16:25. Jesus is conveying that you need to be fully committed to Him, putting to death the desires of the flesh and being "All In" for Christ, as mentioned in Galatians 5:24. You will likely encounter persecution, trials, and tribulations as a follower of Jesus Christ, but the Lord has promised to be with us through it all, as assured in Isaiah 43:2 and John 14:27.
In verses 25 and 26, Jesus conveys that genuine life is discovered through surrendering to Him. Chasing worldly success while neglecting one's soul is futile. Instead, those who commit their lives to Christ will find eternal fulfillment. He urges all His followers to embrace an eternal viewpoint, prioritizing faith over fleeting material wealth.
Friends, you've experienced a different lifestyle, one that has led to pain and probably some dire consequences. Why not consider a new path, one that brings peace, joy, and eternal life?
Thus, my appeal today is directed at those who have felt the Lord's call in their hearts for some time to come to Him. I strongly encourage you to act without hesitation, as tomorrow may be too late. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Matthew 6:34. Choose today to meet with Jesus; He has been waiting for you. He will not impose Himself on you. Free will is a gift given to all. The decision is yours, and I hope you make the right choice today. Jesus loves you deeply, my friend, and is eager for you to experience a new life in Him.
