Today, I stopped by my local Walgreen's to pick up a few items. As I approached the checkout, I noticed an older gentleman ahead of me buying a newspaper, which was the only item he purchased...

As I left the store, I reflected on this. It was intriguing to see that some people still prefer the "traditional" way of getting the news. I was actually pleased to witness this, and it made me think about how quickly the world is changing.

It feels like only yesterday that I purchased my first mobile phone in the mid-90s, a Nextel, which I’m sure many people aren't familiar with. I also owned a Motorola pager, or beeper, which was quite popular in the 90s. Today, there are so many different types of cell phones that it's challenging to keep up with all the various brands and models.

So, what am I getting at?

Though the world progresses with new technologies, cultural shifts, and evolving communication styles, it is crucial to hold onto foundational truths. Just like that gentleman choosing a newspaper over digital news, believers can adapt while remaining grounded in their faith.

This serves as a reminder that while methods may change, the core message stays constant. The gospel is timeless, and faith is not meant to conform to fleeting trends but to remain steadfast in the face of them. Isaiah 40:8, Psalm 119:89. Our christian faith involves discerning what should grow and evolve while maintaining unwavering core beliefs.

What I witnessed today perfectly reflects how we manage our faith in an ever-evolving world. We must learn to uphold our values and beliefs amid the rapid changes in society.

Have you experienced other moments like this that reinforced this idea for you? I would love to hear your stories. If you don't have an account, you can comment as a guest without needing to register.
